Trigger Point Injections

What is a Trigger Point Injection (TPI)?

Trigger points are hyperirritable spots or "knots" located within the muscle fascia that commonly cause musculoskeletal pain. Trigger points are painful with compression and palpation and can cause referred pain. Acute trauma or chronic repetitive motion may lead to the development and formation of trigger points. The muscles that maintain body posture such as those in the neck and back are most commonly affected. Many people who have sedentary  desk jobs form trigger points in the muscles surrounding their neck and back which leads to pain and suffering. Trigger point injections are a quick, non-invasive approach that has been shown to be one of the most effective treatments to inactivate trigger points and alleviate pain.
